Congratulations to a Future Mom-To-Be

"There is a person in the world that wants you more than anything. She will do her best, she will make some mistakes, and you will only get her for an unknown time. But she will love you more that you could ever imagine. When that person becomes a mother, so much is possible!"

A young lady, who served as the youth minister at our Parish announced last week that she was excepting her first baby with
her new husband.

My heart warmed when I read her news and thought how exciting
the next several months will be for her. It made me think back to when I first found out I was pregnant with my son.  The excitement, the nervousness, the joy, and all the feelings that come with the news, "You are going to have a baby!"
Those few words would change my life ... forever!

With my first pregnancy, I had all the morning, afternoon and evening sickness and it lasted to almost the sixth month. Then I had terrible back pain for the last two months. Was it an easy pregnancy? Absolutely not, but I wouldn't changed any of it for the world. I had a healthy baby boy who changed my life.

When your baby is placed in your arms, the emotion is so overwhelming. Describing how you felt at that moment is different for everyone and sometimes hard to find the right words. Magical and Miraculous are the two that come to my mind.  At the moment that you become a mother, whether it is giving birth to a child or perhaps adopting a child, you are instantly changed ... for life! Your thoughts are never alone, you will think about your child or children with everything you do.

So for Megan, an expecting new Mom, I thought I would share some tips that my family and friends shared with me and I still cherish all these years later.

  • Cherish this blessing from the Lord and Praise Him.
  • Keep a journal of your pregnancy; write notes or even a poem to your child. Track your progress and how you are feeling at the different stages.
  • Ask family and friends who are mothers about things you are unsure about. Moms have all been there and their knowledge is the greatest of all.
  • Love the changes you will go through during your pregnancy.
  • Have patience and accept any help that is offered.
  • Enjoy every magical moment of your journey!
Your pregnancy is a time of reflection and growth, and Moms everywhere will share in your joy and excitement. Treasure this time, your life will never be the same. Congratulations and all of my thoughts and prayers are with you and your husband!  God Bless You All.

Moms, share any tips you have for this Mom-to-Be
